History

Once again these Petroglyphs were believed to be created by the Barrier Canyon Culture. Some expects believe the panel may have been created by the Fremont Indians. And also there is some expects that tend to believe that these petroglyphs could be even older, maybe back to the time of the dinosaurs.

'Dating' rock art is very difficult due to the rocks that are used. To reach an exact time period is almost impossible, so the artwork itself is used to come up with a date. The The Rochester Creek panel has some very exotic animals, that could have been in the dinosaur period.

Wildlife

When we were there we didn't see any other animals besides a few rabbits and lizards. Elk and Deer may also be found nearby.

Services

The only services in the area are located in Ferron, Utah. There are several gas stations, one motel.

Remember Leave No Trace!

The Native American rock art can be ruined if they are touched. Please don't touch, trace, chalk, or wet the panels since this can destroy the artifacts. Please do not pick up or removed any items either. The panels have been here for thousands of years, please help  them remain here for thousands more.
