How to find the Black Dragon Panels

From Green River travel west on I-70 for 2.7 miles pasted the Hanksville junction, and turn off at milepost number 147. There isn't any overpass here so be careful crossing over the other lanes if you are coming from Salina. Go through the gate on the north side of the freeway. Be sure to leave the gate as you found it. The follow the dirt road another .7 miles, then turn left and drive toward the mouth of the canyon. Park and enjoy a nice half mile walk to the fenced in site of the pictograph panels.

Warning

Even though this is an easy hike, everyone should carry their own water since there is very little if any shade. Summertime temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees.

What to see

This pictograph panel has an unusual drawing of a red dragon. He seems to have wings and be shooting flames! On the right hand side of this dragon there is what seems to be a five legged monkey. There is also a larger panel 100 feet or so to the right of these. These drawings are so unusual they are worth seeing.

Leave no trace

The Native American rock art can be ruined if they are touched. Please don't touch, trace, chalk, or wet the panels since this can destroy the artifacts. Please do not pick up or removed any items either. The panels have been here for thousands of years, please help  them remain here for thousands more.
